Qld: Police monitor tensions in Aboriginal community after riot
More than 30 people have been charged after a massive alcohol-fuelled riot broke out
at a remote Cape York Aboriginal community.
One woman lost an eye and a man was stabbed when family rivalries boiled over last
Friday night, sparking a riot between 300 residents of Aurukun, on the western side of
the peninsula.
Cairns police Inspector JO JACKSON says officers are now monitoring the situation,
but think the riot won't flare again.
A total of 31 people have been charged with 50 …
